Johnnie Walker’s ‘One Bottle’ Sells For An Incredible R76,000

Last week we reported on Johnnie Walker’s ‘One Bottle’ bottle store. A collector’s bottle of Platinum Label signed by Master Blender, Jim Beveridge, and the only one of its kind available in South Africa, was officially handed on Friday evening to the winning bidder, Mr Lyall Mc Evoy at a price of R76 000, at the Johnnie Walker One Bottle Liquor Store in Melrose Arch Johannesburg.

For the launch of the new Johnnie Walker Platinum Label, a collector’s bottle of Platinum Label signed by Master Blender, Jim Beveridge, and the only one of its kind available in South Africa, was made available to the public to bid on from 14 September 2012.
Bidding for this coveted collector’s item officially closed on 21 September 2012. After verifying all bids placed, Lyall Mc Evoy was announced to be the winning bidder, giving the bottle a final value of R76 000. The coveted bottle item was handed to Mc Evoy at an official handover event that took place at the Johnnie Walker ‘One Bottle Liquor Store’ situated in Melrose Arch, Johannesburg. All proceeds raised will be donated to the non-profit organisation, South Africans Against Drunk Driving.
Johnnie Walker Platinum Label will be available at leading bottle stores country-wide from 1 October 2012, the recommended retail price is R999.90.
