When we speak of passion all a guy will think of is hot steamy….. well you know. Ok! Focus: stop that movie in your head, here we are talking about the passion for life; the energy that gets us up in the morning with anticipation of a serendipitous adventure ahead. Passion for an entrepreneur is surely one of the key characteristics that will get you ejected from Cubicle Nation and into self employment.
It is very hard to show passion in a large corporate without your line manager feeling threatened and squashing you like a bug before you get promoted above him.
Passion comes from the very core of our being and wells up with an energy that is almost unstoppable. Much like a Mentos sweet does to a diet Coke. This is a characteristic that needs to be focused so as not to offend anyone who does not share your enthusiasm about life and so you do not run ahead of yourself and miss out on some important steps of building a business. It is best to have an accountability partner or coach to assist you in the focus and control of this passion. I often get very excited when I begin to see the sparkle in an entrepreneur’s eye when they begin to talk about their product or business. It is then that I need to, without killing the emotion, begin to channel the energy into action and focused goals. An unmanaged life begins to be like a deflating balloon in a warehouse, lots of noise and movement but very little result.
Love and feed your passion, but keep it focused with clear goals and outcomes.
