It has been ages since my last post to Ideate and to be honest I have missed it. I left things off with two articles on Linkedin that looked at why you should and how you can start networking.
Since the we have been doing some research into Linkedin usership in South Africa and found 600 000 South Africans were registered, 94 000 users are in management positions with 50 000 company directors and presidents. The site also has over 75 000 business owners registered along with 26 000 consultants.
The report does not make any recommendations or draw any conclusions but simply presents the findings from a quantitative study on how many people own a profile on Linkedin in South Africa.
The report was written up to paint a picture of Linkedin in South Africa because it had become increasingly evident that South Africans were not sure how to approach Linkedin. This statistics presented give us enough information to make an informed decision about whether our industry is using Linkedin enough to make our networking efforts worthwhile.
I have outlined a few of the stats int he video below:

Interesting article. The numbers are far higher than I would have imagined, although many people I know in SA signed up and have disappeared into the sunset. It would be interesting to find out how many people in SA use it on a regular basis (i.e. log in at least once a week or even once a month). I would bet only a few thousand?
