Over the last 10 years of study in human nature and behaviour I have developed a model that depicts how we are composed, behave and interact. The Sphere of Mankind models life at the basics of principles, purpose and functions. To begin this journey of understanding what makes up an Entrepreneur we must first make a pit stop at this model to understand the basic functions and purposes of everyone and then begin to focus on the traits that make a good business owner or entrepreneur.
The sphere of mankind revolves around our central core that we mentioned last week. This then envelope the four main areas of composition of man: mind, body, heart and soul. Each of these four are interconnected yet separate in their design and purpose. Here is a short synopsis;
Mind – We are born curious with the need to learn and grow through discovery. We can measure our capability to do this using an Intelligent Quotient test. The best way to learn is to teach.
Body – This is the flesh and bone stuff with the natural instinct to survive. We feel pain, hunger and thirst to prompt us to survive. The higher our Physical Quotient the faster we recover from effort, injury and illness. The best way to fully survive is to participate, participate in life fully is to truly life.
Heart – the centre of our emotions and feelings. We all have the desire to be loved and appreciated. Our Emotional Quotient indicates how well we are able to mingle and make friends. As my 3 year old will tell us; to have friends, we need to be friends. To be fully loved we need to love others.
Soul – This part of us deals with eternal issues, the desire for a legacy. Some crave to have a street or building named after them, but a true legacy is left in the heart of another, this is achieved through mentorship.
In summary all humans have four main purposes in life; to teach, to participate, to love and mentor others. And you thought life was complicated. We will begin to unpack more of this next week when we look at values and principles.
