There are not many Master Chefs in the world, but here at Ideate we are proud to say we know one! We were in for such a treat yesterday when Master Chef Frank Meijer dropped by the office with a goodie bag full of deliciously decadent Macarons. We had such a wonderful chat about Macarons (also called Macaroons) and how Frank got started perfecting these incredible delights.
What is a Macaron?
A Macaron is a light, baked confection, or chewy cookie if you will, that is an art to perfect. Delicately crispy on the outside and deliciously smooth on the inside, this little cookie is filled with so much flavour you’ll be quite pleasantly surprised.
Something people don’t know is that making a Macaron is very difficult process which is an art on its own. Make sure that when you buy a Macaron that it is an actual Macaron. Cut it open and see if it’s crisp on the outside and moist on the inside. You’ll know if it truly is a Macaroon because they are quite something special to experience.

I’d have to share them with Bafana and macaron fan @kerry_anne or she’d never talk to me again. Although Thierry Henri comes in a close second.

You know Jo, it’s a funny thing – I had just made my way over here to say that I’d share them with YOU! Jo is the only person I know who has been brave enough to actually try making macarons (and it was a mighty fine attempt, I must say), so she should definitely get a pack.
And if it weren’t for me, Fred would still be calling them “macaroons”, so I think I should get a pack too.
And then we’ll share with each other, and… perfect!
