Linkedin has over 600 000 users in South Africa and over 30% of those people are in management positions or higher.

That very short opening line shows the power of Linkedin as a networking vehicle. I would suggest to every entrepreneur out there to get networking on Linkedin. You can start by adding me to your network if you like.

If you are not on Linkedin yet here’s how to go about it:

  1. Signup at www.linkedin.com
  2. Complete your profile
  3. Upload your contacts from your email account and connect with everyone you know on Linkedin.

Over the next few weeks I will be sharing more about Linkedin to help get into the network. Check out this video introduction about Linkedin.

    Hi Mike,

Adding you on LinkedIn doesn’t work as:
    a) if one selects “I dont know Mike” then the request to Link is rejected.
    b) if one selects “other” then an email address needs to be filled in (which is not available on your website.
    c) if one selects “colleague” then a company needs to be chosen etc.

    Inmail is also not allowed.

How does one, therefore, Link to you if we haven’t done business, dont work together, dont know each other etc etc. I am very appreciative of the privacy settings of LinkedIn but this is an interesting hurdle.

    Best regards
