We’re interviewing leading business minds and entrepreneurs to find out more about who inspired them to get to where they are today.

We asked the incredibly talented and opinionated entrepreneur/ rock star and founder of Missing Link – the presentation strategists – Rich Mulholland about who inspires him most.

1. As an entrepreneur, who inspires / first inspired you?

I’m inspired by many people, not specifically entrepreneurs though.

The first entrepreneur I got stars in the eyes for was (unapologetically) Branson, and my earliest personal mentor was Ofer Lapid, CEO of Gearhouse SA. That guy taught me and shaped me so much. While I feel I’ve grown a lot I am definitely a product of the Ofer School of Business.

These days I find inspiration all over the place.

2. What is your best piece of business advice?

Sheesh, in my mind there is no best piece of advice. Here are three titbits:

  • Culture is everything
  • Don’t try and replicate yourself, you’re that guy already. A far better idea is to fill the gaps you leave in your wake (there are loads, promise).
  • Running a business is supposed to be fun, if you’re not having a laugh… get a job.

At the Heavy Chef Session in Joburg last week we were all awed by Rich’s presentation on Augmented Reality and we thought he might add some flavour for Ideate readers as well. So, thanks for these great quality tips Rich!
