Did you know that Youtube is the 5th largest website visited by South Africans? That means that Youtube is bigger than Twitter! yet for some reason business people and brand managers seem to think that South Africans don’t watch video on the internet. Something about bandwidth costs apparantly (Mweb and Afrihost seem to be sorting this out for us).
Potential in SA
Internet video means that we could take everything we have learnt from producing TV adverts (where South African’s have become global experts) and then apply it to an online campaign and gain more traction than we even thought possible. In fact I would South African’s really have the potential to put themselves on the map with internet video marketing.
To give you an idea of what possible I have added a video below advertising Pepsi for the 2010. What’s so special about that – PEPSI ARE NOT THE WORLD CUP SPONSORS!! Check out my article for more stats on the Pepsi Campaign.

What do you think?
I would love to know if there are any South African companies experimenting with internet video campaigns yet. Let us know by commenting below on what you are doing or what you have seen done?

Awesome video! Internet video has huge impact and with the right emotional marketing identity will leave your audience remembering the video for ages and telling others about it too. I still remember a Nike video campaign I saw on Youtube from about 2/3 years ago now – certainly don’t remember many print or static ad’s from that long ago.
