Twitter really is a place to get the answers to your questions by following the right people. This micro-blogging phenomenon is fast becoming the main attraction when it comes to information being shared online. Apart from @Ideateblog (that’s us!); there are some great people and organisations to follow on Twitter that will benefit you and your business. I’ve put together a list of 5 people or organizations I really recommend you follow. These Twitter users will ensure that you keep up to date with anything to do with small businesses. These people regularly provide great posts about and for small businesses.
There are so many people to follow who provide great information, advice and news on small businesses but it would be impossible to name them all without leaving someone out or overloading you with a list of a thousand people. Here are 5 people to follow on Twitter for business (in no specific order):
SmallBizPod, @smallbiztweets
SmallBizPod offers great posts for business start-ups on topics such as tips on starting 2010 with a strong PR and marketing plan and tips on how to get local press coverage for your business.
- What Works Business, @whatworks
What works for Business tweets on great topics for bloggers, marketers and small businesses such as the cure for business blog writer’s block, must-have small business iPhone apps and many more. What works for Business helps you get into the right mindset and think differently about certain aspects in your business.
- Richard Branson, @richardbranson
If you’re not already following the entrepreneurial guru of the 21st century you were probably just out in space for the past few years. Richard Branson has showed the world again and again that it is possible to make your dreams come true.
- Guy Kawasaki, @GuyKawasaki
Guy’s ‘practical blog for impractical people’ covers topics from management to presenting, entrepreneurship and venture capital. Also, Guy tweets about other really interesting things he finds on the web and builds a great relationship with his followers.
- Ivana Taylor, @DIYMarketers
DIYMarketers offer great tips on using marketing tools and making marketing easy for you. Ivana adds a personal touch to the DIYMarketers Twitter page and retweets interesting posts on other topics as well.
Yolandi Janse van Rensburg writes about social media, marketing, life and, of course, cars. We say “of course” because Yolandi is nuts about anything on 4 wheels. Besides moonlighting as the Heavy Chef girl at World Wide Creative, Yolandi runs Autofemme, a blog about cars, as a business on the side. View more articles by Yolandi.

Great list, all worth following. Guy was the only one I was already following. Didn’t think it was the real Richard Branson when I first signed up to Twitter! Thanks a million for this.
