The year 2010 is drawing closer and closer so it’s time to reflect. I’ve asked a couple of business brains to give me one “Do” and one “Don’t” for 2010. Here’s what they came up with:

Business Do's and Don'ts

Colette Symanowitz runs MBAconnect.net and feels it’s important to focus on your customers’ needs and relevance to them before revenue. “With satisfied customers come positive word-of-mouth and database growth, and revenue will follow”. Also, Colette advises you to focus on revenue streams that bring in ongoing annuity income.

Even in the midst of a financial crunch, Colette warns not to let desperation and cash flow concerns be your main driver of decisions. “If you do, you’ll make short-term decisions that may save you money but that will hurt you in the long-term and cost you customers”.

Prejlin Naidoo is GM at Altech Autopage cellular. He says it easy – Do invest in Branding and don’t forget about Mobile!

Nic Haralambous is the product manager at Vodacom. Nic says don’t think that 2010 World Cup is going to revolutionize your business forever – “It won’t.” However, be nice to tourists and new customers. “We want them to come back over and over and over!”

I found some other Do’s and Don’ts on the web and here are some interesting links you can check out:

Yolandi Janse van Rensburg writes about social media, marketing, life and, of course, cars. We say “of course” because Yolandi is nuts about anything on 4 wheels. Besides moonlighting as the Heavy Chef girl at World Wide Creative, Yolandi runs Autofemme, a blog about cars, as a business on the side. View more articles by Yolandi.
