This link was sent to us this morning. It’s a short video of a guy going around investigating the worth of a Cannes Gold Lion. (The Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival is one of the advertising industry’s most celebrated award ceremonies.)
Nice. Nothing like taking the piss out of an industry famous for being a little too arrogant about the value of its work. Over the years, South Africa’s advertising agencies have been competing with the best of them, which is awesome – but from personal experience, young execs in the marketing trade can sometimes get ahead of themselves, awful quick. This vid should be of particular interest to those in the trade struggling to retain their humility after receiving a slew of awards for their work.
The video was created by European digital agency Boondoggle – check ‘em out. They’re the latest in a fast rising trend of agencies making the move to putting digital at the centre of everything, rather than the silo approach of last century.
[Thanks Tom for the link]
