The advert was conceptualised by SA advertising agency King James, and directed by Velocity Films. “The idea came to us when we were discussing how we all have those annoying friends overseas always rubbing it in about how great it is over there,” adds Mike Wilson, creative director from King James. “But they all, to a man, really miss great SA products like Mrs Balls, Marmite, Pro Nutro, biltong and, of course, our amazing Steers burgers.”

The commercial, directed by Anton Visser from Velocity Films, harnessed the power of video skype technology to bring the 2 friends together visually. The commercial was shot in “real time” using an actual skype style link up to make sure the dialogue flowed naturally and that it felt authentic.

Nice work guys. Proudly South African stuff.
