For the ladies: Bring unwanted, lightly-worn clothes and start trading.

To the fairer readers of Ideate: this will interest you if you, like me, have wayyy too many clothes in your wardrobe that you don’t wear but, somehow, never seem to clear out.
Like this little number -

Or this guy -

Yep, folks. That’s how I roll, sartorially speaking.
So when Tonia Zorbas emailed me about her new business on the block, Fashion Exchange, I was intrigued. Her idea is simple:
- You buy a ticket (R30) to a Fashex event.
- Bring your lightly-worn (but still cool & trendy) clothes – a maximum of 6 items.
- Exchange each item for a button, which you use to claim your new items.
- Start plundering Fashion Exchange’s rails for your new wardrobe.
Unfortunately, the events are only for girls – for now – so, I’m stuck with the items mentioned above, but apparently if we guys find enough support for this, Tonia may get one going for her male audience out there.
So, who’s with me? Anyone? Anyone?
(Crickets chirping)
Ok, ok, our male readers can discreetly email me to pledge support for a male fashion exchange. In the meantime, ladies, you’re officially invited to the next Fashex event…
- Where? Café Sofia in Rondebosch (more here)
- When? 9th May
- Hoeveel? R30 – at the door, or at www.webtickets.co.za
My wife is going. I’ve told her that the Catwoman outfit has just got to go.
It’s so 2 months ago.
By the way, Tonia has given us 5 tickets to the event for Ideate readers – who wants ‘em? (Comment, DM or email me if you’re keen to go).
Update: The free tickets have been snapped up. You can still pick up tickets for R30 at the door – get over there!

I love this idea!
I’ve been doing it with my friends, but with strangers will be so much better… Hmm, that sounded dodgy!
I’d love a ticket if there are still some up for grabs. Thanks!

Me too, me too!!!
And I’ve been part of Bridget’s clothing exchange, they rock so I’m guessing this will be just as fab.

The free tickets all gone, sorry guys : )
There are still tickets available though, it only costs R30 at the door. Be there.
