I remember back in my studying days (first Graphic Design, then Marketing) all my mates chatted about what businesses we were going to start after graduating. I hung out with some naturally entrepreneurial people, and the two ideas that kept coming up were ‘T-shirt company’ and ‘coffee shop’.
One of my favourite sites is Springleap.com, which happens to have evolved from a combination of a T-shirt and coffee shop combined (E-squared in Sea Point and Durban) – so it has great pedigree. It’s a site I look at and go ‘I wish I had done that’. Currently it’s enjoying huge growth in traffic and being featured in blogs and publications all over the show. Internationally, this SA start-up is starting to nip at the heels of the big daddy of t-shirt shops Threadless.com.
