Viral Videos on a Shoestring

Last night we attended the Heavy Chef session in Cape Town, where Rui Esteves shared his experiences in launching and selling Vida é Caffe. Like most start-ups they had no money for advertising, so they adopted a mixture of guerilla marketing on the streets of Cape Town, and viral videos. Yip, we’re talking 2001 and well before YouTube and Zoopy were household names. Rui put these videos together himself, using Flash of all things, and distributed them via good-old e-mail.
