DirectAxis Spam

I never asked to receive a monthly subscription of spam mail from DirectAxis. Despite the Amazon.com warnings of the South African Post Office being full of ‘post thieves’, my DirectAxis spam mail manages to navigate its way through the Post Pirates every time without fail!! To make the matter worse, I was horrified to discover last week that DirectAxis’s head office is just 3km away from where I live.
It’s a little bit too close for comfort. I don’t appreciate being so blatantly spammed on a monthly basis, and if they carry on partaking in shady and dodgy practices like spamming, they may very well find themselves under siege or something much worse.
What can we learn from DirectAxis?
Don’t do spam! It’s not worth having everyone hating you and wishing they never lived so close to you…and secretly wishing they could wedgy every single person who folds a letter and licks an envelope.

This is not spam, it’s junk mail. Very different…. (i.e. the sender pays, the recipient doesn’t)

I am sure in terms of the NCA they are not allowed to do this? They are enticing people to get further into debt. Currently people spend 83% of their income towards servicing debt. When will it stop?

Thanks Alan for the clarification – I was aware of that, but I still view it as spam because it costs me time, its takes up space in my rented post box and I didn’t ask for it!

Heres a good payback (if you have the time)
Most junk mail has a reply to envelope.
Put someone elses junkmail leaflet into this one and vice versa. – spam the spammers i say!!!
havent really tried it – but could be hilarious

Naeem, that is a good idea, I have done that in the past and currently do it with all email spam I receive, I see it as free marketing.

Alan makes a good point it does not cost any of us a cent to have Direct Axis send their Cr##ppy spamvertising to every Post Box and registered address in the country.
It’s not like all the paper they used is recycled, nor that all there isn’t a MASSIVE carbon foot print being established moving tonnes of these letters across the country.
I live in KZN, Shane, if I send you the finances (Electronically) will you do me a favor and weld their front door shut with some Pratley’s Glue. Apparently it can hold the weight of a Bull Dozer suspended off the floor by a chain.
Naeem, nice idea, haven’t the time myself, but would love to see it in action.

I received this bloody annoying spam letter in the post. The worst thing of all is that your current insurance company is probably selling your info to these guys. I recently moved and have made most of my bills etc go to a P.O.Box. All my banks etc don’t know that I have a new residential address. The only company that does it my insurance company and that’s DialDirect.

DIRECTACCESS SPAM just landed on my desk!
Forwarded it to my bin.
Most definitely don’t want to do business with Direct Access.

I receive monthly mail and SMS spam from these douches. Anyone know where they get your info? Anyhow, against my better judgement, I decided to fill out there opt-out form at http://www.directaxis.co.za/opt-out.aspx (mostly likely just a cunning opt-in form!). Of course, when you click “Send”, you just get a large .aspx server error.
Basts.

Aha! I am not the only one who receives more attention from them than I would like.
I discovered to my mixed dismay and glee that I live within walking distance of what appears to be a large “campus” of theirs, in De Waal Road, Diep River. With a bit of luck it’s even head office!
I am outlining my ideas on my blog post, http://tiefstapler.blogspot.com/2011/02/there-must-be-justice.html
