Being Interviewed by Carte Blanche on a Friday Morning

Web marketing strategy Verity

Today was a big day for the World Wide Creative studio. Carte Blanche rolled in with cameras and crew to interview me on the work we’ve done on Verity’s online success story.

For those who don’t know Verity, she is a SA singer/songwriter who decided 3 years ago not to sign with a record contract but rather try something different. She aimed to sell her album to a few thousand people before it existed. Via the website, her fans could pre-order the album with the aim to generate enough revenue to finance a world class production.

I’ve been interviewed a few times before, but Carte Blanche is on another level. I rate the show highly, and I’m well stoked they came through.

Check out the pics on Flickr here.

Thank God it wasn’t Debora Patta. She scares the hell out of me.

Great work on getting interview on CB.

    But.

Why does the song play automatically on the verity homepage and there is no place to stop it? (on FireFox 2.0.0.12, Windows XP).

Also no real sense of the “hook” of investing in a future CD, or not finely articulated.

Dev, good points both. The decision on having the song play was discussed at length. Verity felt it was a music site, so it must have at least a little burst of music and then the visitor can choose whether to listen further with the music player.

With regards to the hook, it used to be there loud and clear, but now that the CD has been made, the focus has shifted slightly.

We are now looking a site redesign, since it is now more about the music and the journey rather than looking for support.

    Thanks for the answers Fred.

Have to say follow this blog and the ideate’s adventures very closely. Nothing but impressed by you guys!

Not to start a running conversation, but have you seen this website:

    http://www.earth-touch.com/

Check out the pro version, South African based, wildlife video platform. I’m so impressed by that site.
