[UPDATE 4 April 2008: Just so there's no confusion, this was an April's Fool Joke!]
SCOOP: As some of our loyal readers know, we’ve been looking for guest writers on specific topics. In the past few months, we’ve been priveleged to host the scribblings of such luminaries as Cherryflava.com’s Jon Cherry, PeopleWise’s Claire Stewart and Vida e Caffe co-founder, Rui Esteves.
Well, now we’re delighted to announce that none other than Sir Richard Branson will post some virgin musings in his first attempt at blogging in Africa.
Virgin are expanding their business operations throughout Africa, and part of Branson’s ground strategy is to target social media sites that represent the ‘African experience’. We’re honoured that Ideate, amongst others, has been chosen to act as a vital cog in Virgin’s marketing communications mix.
Sir Richard’s spokesperson in Cape Town, Juan McEnroe, says this: ‘Ideate has long been fighting the good fight for commerce in the southern part of the continent, and we see your team as a young, vibrant community that represents the same ideals as our portfolion of businesses. Virgin, like Ideate, is a sexy, ambitious presence amongst forward-thinkers in the market place.’
Thanks Juan. Much appreciated. We’re very excited to soon be on Virgin territory.
Juan gave us a sneak peak at some of the PR material supplied by Virgin. In true Branson fashion, it appears Virgin want to shake things up a bit! Some of the topics Sir Richard will be covering include:
- South African banks – you can do better!
- SAA don’t know what they’re doing
- Vodacom are ripping you off!
- Mugabe – maybe not such a bad guy?
We look forward to Sir Richard’s first post – watch this space!
