Brand South Africa

Like it or not, your brand is your most valuable asset. The way you manage your business and represent yourself and your products affects your brand’s equity. If you are a public company, this will reflect in your share price. The problem is that your share price doesn’t always reflect your true value.

Our country is a brand too. Our board of directors think that they can do what they want without affecting our brand. Criminals, liars and cheats shouldn’t be in charge of a great company or a country for that matter.

When scandals are exposed, heads roll, people resign and the shit hits the proverbial fan. If shareholders are unhappy they speak out, take action and fire the board.

I don’t think we are a nation of criminals, liars and cheats. Unfortunately, right now, that’s what the World thinks of Brand South Africa. Our share price does not reflect our true value.

Make a noise. Fire the board. Don’t let them get away with it. The Fight to Save SA’s Image.

This is not a negative post. In fact, I am tired of all the negativity bouncing around.

I am really encouraged by the fact that the media is exposing all the shenanigans going on in South Africa.

Yes as much as getting a good public image of our country put out there for investors to see, the truth of the matter is that the country needs an overhaul.

As you say it must not be something negative, perhaps the people who need to be overhauled would see it as being negative. I don’t believe that it’ll be a negative change – out with corruption.

People in South Africa need to wake up and put a stop to all the corruption, lying, and negative bashing.

It’s time to leave the past behind and live for today, make change for the positive today. The 2009 elections are approaching soon…. Are you going to vote??? We need to vote as each person not voting is a vote for the ruling party.

In 1996 God was taken out of the constitution, He is the only one sure foundation. Lets get back to the basics!

Ha, Rui – love this post. A while back I had a similar rant http://www.ideate.co.za/2006/10/30/marketing-south-africa-a-proposed-strategy/, which ended up with the CEO of Brand South Africa responding http://www.ideate.co.za/2006/11/03/response-from-marketing-sa/, and then us meeting to discuss the way forward http://www.ideate.co.za/2006/12/11/ideate-meets-brand-south-africa/.

Careful Rui, she may just take you on for this. Believe me, she’s a tough cookie.
