Free business idea: I’ll have a double meatless cheese burger

Mmmm – meat is yum, but not all human beings think that putting the stuff in their mouths and chewing it is such a great idea.
Yip – they’ve been labeled ‘vegetarian’ and probably due to horrific crimes they committed in a previous life, these people are directed to the dreadfully bland soy burger section of the supermarket, whenever they feel like fitting in with the rest of us flesh snacking brethren.
Now apart for a limited selection of meals from the local Kauai. all unsurprisingly marked with a little ‘V” – these poor folk have since the invention of the late-night fast food joint, been barred from these establishments due to their fussy nutritional choices.
It therefore makes perfect sense, that an entrepreneur that grabs the opportunity to offer healthy, all vegetarian fast food meals to this hungry tribe of non-meat eaters would be very successful. Zen Burger in New York city is just such a place.
Looking and feeling just like an ordinary fast food restaurant, the place allows the veggies to feel normal, if for but a few minutes, with tasty meat-free burgers, hotdogs, organic vegetable chips and even organic cola (which we just so happened to also write about this morning).
Just looking at the huge popularity of the Saturday morning Old Biscuit Mill market, South Africa is more than ready for a health alternative to the existing grease-splattered fast food brands.
Hey Rui – you seem to know a thing or two about food retail…

Great idea, but in my previous years travelling around the globe, I’ve yet to taste a veg burger that’s worth its salt. I wonder if these things taste anything different from the juicy cardboard flavour of earlier attempts?
