In “I am Legend” with Will Smith, he is the only surviving human after a terrible plague. He roams the empty streets of New York while grass grows in the pavements.
That’s what this week feels like if you’re one of the few people who aren’t still on leave. It seems like it should be a wonderful time to catch up on all that paperwork, but it’s hard to get motivated when half the country is at the beach.
To cheer myself up a bit, I created an RSS feed for SuperCricket and SuperRugby, using the brilliant service called Dapper. SuperSport maintains great websites, but they don’t offer a feed to read the news in your reader of choice (head to Google.com/reader if you don’t have a feed reader), so that’s where Dapper comes in. Try these links:
http://www.dapper.net/services/Supercricket
http://www.dapper.net/services/Superrugby
I only made it display the title and the summary, so you can still click through and give SuperSport their pageview, but it’s a good way to keep up with the action.
All the best with your work… next week.

Perhaps you can just imagine yourself as Will Smith and pretend that the world’s future rests on your hands and certain monsters will be out to get you if you don’t do a good job. It’s better than looking around and sulking at the number of empty cubicles still on vacation.

I saw this movie last night. I relate to how he sleeps in fear at night. The same way, I think many South African’s do. The fear of someone attacking your house at night, or attacking you while you sleep. I wish that there is a safe haven out there for us all, and cure for the violent crime out on our land. Let’s hope that light will prevail, and succeed this darkness that hampers our lovely country.
