How to create a viral campaign

At first when I saw this, I thought “Genius! Pure genius!” but then I figured if I was the marketing director of Durex I would have done this ages ago.
Regular readers of Ideate will know that we’re pretty keen on viral marketing. Cheap, easy, and (duh!) viral – the internet has made a great idea travel faster than you could ever have imagined 15 years ago. Check this out: Durex have called for volunteer Condom Testers. Of course, within hours this simple message spread to every corner of the globe and they’ve managed to garner millions-worth of free publicity.
Think about it. I bet there’s a way that a small business like yours (or mine) can create a killer communication idea that you just know your mates will send it to everyone in their address book. So what’s stopping you?

You’re absolutely right. This is pure genius but within the grasp of any business.
I hope this gets businesses thinking. It’s got me going!
