So, what did you do on National Heritage Day?

The Maven and me responded to the call from Cherryflava and swung by Mzoli’s, the legendary venue in Gugulethu township, Cape Town, yesterday morning. The idea is you pick your meat, they braai it for you, and then you feast like a pack of lions.

Some headlines:

1. It was packed. At around 2.30 Shane and I left the place as it started to rock n’ roll.
2. Jon and Heinrich from Missing Link were filming something – top secret, I think. Watch Cherryflava for more info
3. The Tongmaster (the guy who came up with the whole National Braai Day thing) was there. He was gutted because they didn’t sell Klipdrift.
4. The food rocks. Do yourself a favour, take a trip to Gugs and get some lamb chops done Mzoli-style.
5. The secret sauce is the business. R12 extra, but dammmmn it’s good
6. I got interviewed by SABC. I told the interviewer I was disappointed in Ebrahim Rasool because he was disappointed in Braai Day.

Mzolis is the best place to be in Cape Town. Sundays… I miss my sundays with big chunks of steaks. and I miss the sauce and the boerewors and the people and the atmosphere and the cold beer from the lady in the container… Ah, i miss it.

Hi Rhona, Ideate is not connected with Mzolis – we just visited there a while back.

…probably best to try the phone book?

Ohhhh! I was there for a Braai one Sunday last November with the group of volunteers I was working with in S.A.
Delicious food indeed. Wish I could experience the atmosphere and sensations again!
