Career advice from Dilbert

Scot Adams, the guy behind Dilbert, is a very perceptive guy. I read his blog daily.

Today’s post was his take on careers. He reckons you don’t have to be the best at one thing, just semi-decent at two or more things. He’s funnier than me, so I’ll let him explain the rest.

I would expand his thoughts to cover small business. You don’t have to be the best plumber in the world – just be a pretty good plumber, and pretty good at customer service (ie return the odd phonecall), and you’ll probably have instant success.

I thought it was an excellent article – just read it and added the Dilbert Blog to my reader. It reminds me of Good to Great’s ‘Hedgehog Concept’ – http://www.jimcollins.com/lab/hedgehog/
