Meeting Set with Marketing SA

Brand South Africa

We have a date! After my post two weeks ago, where I lambasted the lack of effectiveness in SA’s marketing effort, Yvonne Johnson, CEO of the International Marketing Council of South Africa, has responded in great fashion. She has agreed to a time to discuss the suggestions I mentioned in the post.

We will be thrashing out SA’s international strategy on Wednesday next week. I have a list of questions that I would like to ask, including:

  • Why the lack of consistency in the marketing message?
  • Where are we aiming to position ourselves?
  • What are the long term big hairy goals that Marketing SA has set for us?
  • What role does Small Business have in the marketing effort?
  • What role does the SA blogging / internet community play in the strategy (if any)?
  • Why not use humour in the creative media?

I reckon this provides a great opportunity for the internet community to get some answers, as well as put some ideas forward. Place your comments below…

Here’s another question you can ask: Do you know what a blog is?

Well done, Fred. And good luck.
(Don’t forget to ask what the budget is ;-) )

Cracking job Fred. What fantastic initiative you’ve shown on this one. I think I sing pretty off the same hymn sheet albeit that will probably be significantly more thorough than me. Pretty busy lately, actually ridiculously busy but will try and think of anything I can add. One things for sure I will definitely post about it!
