While doing the books the other day I realised that we had just gone passed R160,000 in online sales from our projects – Bug Zapper, FlagKit and Rat Terminator. Bug Zapper is about to turn 1 year old, Rat Terminator is about 6 months old, and FlagKit is just over 3 months old.
In a moment of pride (and perhaps a dose of arrogance) I suddenly felt quite good about our efforts. Surely this places us in the top 100 South African online retailers?

And does it pay the rent?
(just found an excellent website with a currency calculator to get a better idea of the sales volume)
do people really buy the zapper and terminator? If so, you guys can sell any thing!

It has supported 1 full-time employee over the past year, but we are looking to expand this in the near future. We have a lot of excitement for YuppieChef.com.
Surprisingly, the Bug Zapper and Rat Terminator seems to have a fairly broad appeal. We have sold close on 1,000 Bug Zappers so far.

Andrew, I really didn’t mean it as a pun. Like I said if those ’strange’ items can support one member of staff, find more strange items
