Small Business Idea: Small Money

In our home we are trying to teach our kids about spending, saving and giving. Not an easy task, as there is so much to compete with, but never the less it’s an extremely important process that cannot be ignored.

The four chambered Piggy Bank is a classic little pig that, if used properly can help you with this process. I did a search to see if it was available in South Africa, and it doesn’t look like it is. Not looking for any new business ideas at the moment, but I thought this could make an excellent e-commerce site, coupled with some really helpful tips of teaching your kids financial principles etc. Do your PR right and you’ll have a real winner!

Now 40% larger, this 4-chambered piggybank makes learning about money fun! The award-winning Money Savvy Pig has four separate chambers, one for each of the “money choices” that children have when they earn or receive money – Save, Spend, Donate or Invest. This learning tool teaches kids how to set goals and helps them to develop a sense of delayed gratification. Money can be removed easily from each individual chamber through a hole in the bottom. Comes with a set of goal-setting stickers and a guide for parents. Winner of a 2002 Parents’ Choice Gold Award.
