The Rise of the Blog!

Some of the goons in the studio here have been expressing their doubts about the validity of the blog as a marketing tool. ‘What is the point?’ I hear them say (yes, I’m looking at you sqroot!)
I’m not sure what the ROI is yet, but from a marketing point of view, there is definitely value in the interactiveness of blogging. For the customer, it provides a non-threatening insight into the personal world of the company you are dealing with; for the company, it is a conduit into the hearts and minds of your target market. That’s the idea, anyway.

Let’s face it, Fred, ‘what is the point?’ is a good question when it comes to blogging. It is what I put to (the one I suspect you identify as) Sqroot when I called your office today and you were not available to take the call. Either he has been paying attention to what you say or he is more intelligent than you realise – or both. He responded with a thoroughly balanced view and, if I were in the market for your services, I think I would trust his advice. Sorry to say I am not in the market for your services but I am writing an article on the benefits of blogging for small and medium businesses in which I will quote Sqroot (with admiration and) at length. Viva, Sqroot!

Penny, sqroot is walking around like John Travolta in Staying Alive. Thanks a bunch – you just made him 30 times cockier than he was before. And he was pretty cocky before.
