Nothing sexy about this one: The Framing Shop resides on Lansdowne Rd in Cape Town between a Honda bike outlet and something like the Kwik-e-Mart in the Simpsons. They don’t even have a website (eish!).
What they do have is a proprietor who is the spitting image of Sven Goran Erikson (erstwhile English football coach). I was well impressed by his great service and great price, but above that Sven shared some great business advice. Sven reckons there are two things to remember in order to grow your business:
- sell a good product
- keep your promises
As simple as that. Like the way the Stormers keep dropping the rugby ball, I think we in business can keep dropping the basics. I believe The Framing Shop has succeeded in getting both right, since the business has been around for 10 years. I found out that they have customers coming in all the way from Paarl to have pictures framed – even though there are two framers in Paarl.
Nice one Sven and The Framing Shop for a simple lesson in brand building.
