Bug Zapper Sales

It’s been a while since we’ve given an update on the Bug Zapper company, so here are some highlights:

  • We have made a few sales through Google Adwords, Ananzi and links from other websites. Initially we thought that these channels would drive sales, but we have since learnt that the Bug Zapper really needs to be referred by a friend. However, sources like Google are good ways of reaching whole new spheres of people across the country.
  • It took over a month to sell the first 30 Bug Zappers, but in the last week we have sold another 27 (see the graph above). It definitely is a snowball effect. Lots of people have started thinking about Christmas Shopping now.
  • We implemented a “Promotional Code” facility in order to offer discounted prices. We then sent a promotional code to everyone who has bought a Bug Zapper telling them they can give that to their friends for a R10 discount. We thought this would be a roaring success, but unfortunately nobody reads e-mails that look even slightly like company spam. We have been following the e-mails up with a phonecall, which helps a bit.
  • We have discovered the wonderful world of customer support. Potential customers phone almost daily to enquire about bulk prices and if they can pick the product up instead of paying for delivery. Currently whoever is around fields the phonecalls, but if it gets any busier or we start selling other products, we might have to make another plan.
  • Presumably everybody reading this message has already ordered their own Bug Zapper. If not, head over to www.bugzapper.co.za and enter the promotional code of “bugzapper@livealchemy.com” for a R10 discount off the normal price of R120.
