It’s all about you

I’ve been reading a lot lately about how the behavior of individuals within a company effectives the profitability of that company. It’s really quite interesting. So often, when sales are low, or targets are being missed, we look to solve this problem through external means. We look at the economy, the time of the year, inflation rates, our product, our branding and maybe our advertising. We look at all these things in an attempt to turn the tide of profitability and turn our companies into a success. Well, there seems to be a far more cost effective way of dealing with these types of problems. It’s more cost effective and seemingly quicker and even more effective. It’s called ‘you’. What seems to be the case is that the personal character and lifestyle of the people within a company have a profound effect on the profitability of that company. The old saying goes, “Why clean the outside of the bowl when it is the inside that is dirty”. Profitability problems aren’t solved purely by new branding, marketing, processes, products, prices, discounts or promotions. Profitability problems are solved in the same place as where they start, you! And me … of course!
